I HAVE BEEN TRYING WITHOUT SUCCESS TO SAVE MY DESKTOPLAYOUT. MATLAB USUALLY RETURNS AN ERROR MESSAGE:
"THE DESKTOP CONFIGURATION WAS NOT SAVED SUCCESSFULLY".
I also have the same problem.
I have read this thread, but I'm using Matlab R2008a in
Windows XP SP2, so there is no permission setting for folder
access. Could anyone can give me advice to fix the error?
I'm not sure what you mean by "there is no permission setting
for folder access". Windows XP does, in general, have the
concept of folder ownership and permissions; it is even
to lock out Administator from access. If you right-click on athere,
folder and select properties, then there is a Permissions tab.
You -might- need to select Advanced to see what is really
or you might have to access as Administrator to see whatis really
there (you might even have to force an ownership change toAdministrator
to see the advanced permissions in detail -- I've had ithappen when
I installed a new XP version to a partition instead ofjust overwriting
the old partition.)

else sprintf('%s',Q), end
Thank you Mr. Walter Roberson.
The permission setting appeared after disabling Tool ->
Folder option -> Disable Simple File Sharing and Display
setting. Now my matlab is not showing the error message, and
seems well.
