optimization problem

HI
well If you guys have seen there is a program written in
MATLAB as an example in the help file called circustent. I
fits the circustent poles with a surface on top .. I need a
program that does the same thing but the difference being
that the position of the tent poles is to be entered by the
user along with the value at that point , and there may be
as many number of tent poles as the user wishes.....
