rs232 signal over wireless connection

Hi,
Im working on a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) project at uni and
would
like to control some servos using the serial output from simulink at
a
ground station computer.
Last week in conversation somebody told me that they would put a PWM
signal through a standard remote controlled aircraft handset. I know
that I need an rs232 servo controller in between the servos and the
aerial, but what do i need between the antenna and the controller
board? It looks to me like all the servo controller boards need a 9
pin serial input.
My question is what equipment do I need to input to the 9 pin board
from the antenna output? Is there a certain type of antenna that does
this straight off?
Sorry if my questions sound silly, I am not an electrical engineer.
I hope this isn't off topic, I thought that somebody in this group
might have tried it before.
Thanks very much for any help offered
Adam
