Presuming that that is k*x rather than a single variable 'kx':
Testing with k=5 suggests to me that there is one or two solutions
between any pairs of adjacent integers. This suggests that
there are an infinite number of solutions for any k.
For example, I find that there are at least two solutions between
999995 and 999996, with the maximum absolute value of
cosh(k*x)*cos(k*x)-1 over that range exceeding 2.5 * 10^2171463
