Vista problems with Invalid MEX-file (ver.dll)

We have made a MSI package of Matlab R2007b which we roll
out to our client computers. On Windows XP everything works
fine but on Windows Vista the following error appear when
running "ver" command:
??? Invalid MEX-file 'C:\Windows\system32\ver.dll':ver
C:\Windows\system32\ver.dll is not a valid Win32
application.
..
This also makes simulink toolbox not to work. Running
Matlab as an administrator or a standard user makes no
difference.
Any ideas on what could be wrong?
