is it possible to know that the shade belongs to the particular color?

Hello All
I would like to know, if it possible to find that the shade belongs
to the basic genre' of colors.

Let me ellaborate, the main idea is that given a particular color,
the algorithm should be able to understand, whether it belongs to the
basic color group such as red, green, yellow, blue.
