Re: problems with trisurf

Dear all;
I am working to visualize simulation data with trisurf.
x, y, z data are imported from data file. and then
tri = delaunay(x,y);
trisurf(tri,x,y,z);
view([0 0 1])
where x, y form the simulation area within which there is a chip
contour.
z is the temperature
I would expect, the temperature within the chip area is high, and
outside is zero.
However, the plot view shows temperature of the area surrounding
the
chip isn't zero.
I checked the data. they are correct.
Because of the unexpected plot, I can't interpret the simulation
results in matlab.
Is there anybody can help?

Thanks in advance!

Without better information, I'm just
guessing here.

It sounds like you have some region with
a non-zero (positive) temperature. Outside
that region, you have specified the
temperature to be zero at some set of
points.

Then you expect the temperature to be
zero everywhere outside that internal
region, including immediately outside it.

The problem is that temperature is
INTERPOLATED. It is non-zero inside,
and some distance outside it is zero.
The surface will be linearly interpolated.

Do you expect that trisurf should know
somehow magically that it should drop
discontinuously to zero outside the chip?
