colorbar overlapping plot label

Hello all,
I am plotting a surface type plot and using colorbar to indicate the
color scale (I am setting the location as 'SouthOutside'.)
Everytime I issue the command the colorbar overlaps the axis label
(in this case the xlabel.
I tried issuing the command before and after the xlabel command but
that did not seem to make a difference. Has anyone encountered this
problem?
Does anyone have a suggestion for a fix?

I am running 7.2 (R2006a).

Thanks,
CW
.
