Re: Fitting Gaussian 3D

Hi,
I'm trying to fit a data matrix (a surface) with a non-isotropic
Gaussian. I tried to get the zero of RMS but I had problem.

non-isotropic Gaussian

p(y,z)=(2*pi*Sy*Sz*sqrt(1-E^2))^(-1)*exp(-.5*(1-E^2)^(-1)*((y/Sy)^2+
(z
/Sz)^2-2*E*y*z/Sy/Sz))

I don't know how to perform a better conditione algorithm

Why do you presume the RMS will be zero for
some set of parameters?

It is hard to help you any more, since you
don't describe the problems that you had.
