executable crashes on 1machine on call to builtin fn

I have an executable (compiled from matlab) that runs on several
machines, but on one particular machine, it crashes with the error
'Undefined command/function 'fetch' '
fetch is part of the database toolbox.
The machine it fails on does not have Matlab installed, but neither
do several of the machines that it does work on. They all have the
same OS. I've tried reinstalling the MCR on that machine, I've tried
recompiling, nothing seems to have any effect.

any ideas what could be wrong or how to fix it?
