Remotely operated standalone

I have a COM (ActiveX) object that must reside on my PC. I only own
one license.

I thought I might give other users a GUI that interacted with a
MATLAB standalone program on my desktop via some sort of network
communication.

It seems to me that this might be a common situation. I am running
Windows 2000.

Any suggestions?
