I wanted to echo what YK said. The graphics are indeed much slower
on my macintosh compared to other machines. I first noticed this
problem with a similar 'lorenz attractor' animation (lorenzgui.m).
It is painfully slow compared to when it is run on a PC. The
slowness essentially makes it impossible to do simple animations that
are run in matlab (i.e. - putting some plot function in a for loop,
so that MATLAB will just write over the plot each time through the
loop, yielding an animation). Upon performing bench, it is indeed
the 2D and 3D rendering tests that are slower than other machines.
PS-I am running 10.4.3 on a 1.25GHzG4 (iBook) w/ 1.25GB RAM. The
dual G5 numbers produced in bench are not too much better than mine.
What gives?!?!?! Any hope to get out of X11 completely? It seems to
me that the slowdown is there (?) . . .
