XLSREAD - Quick/Easy Question

I have a file named "SHOCK_006.XLS", and am having a problem
importing it with xlsread on version 7 SP1. Here is the error
message.

??? XLSREAD unable to open file SHOCK_002.XLS.
Undefined function or variable 'name'.

Has anyone else had this error, I can't figure out why it won't read
the file (or if it is a problem w/ the xls file, or a matlab
problem).

BTW, there are only 40,000 rows. Less than the excel maximum.
