Okay. You can use Photoshop for the raster image/s, and CorelDRAW for the
text and vector work.

I have been told that they need the text converted to curves to get a crisper
7pt text.

Converting vector text to curves isn't going to make crisper text. Did you
set the type in CorelDRAW or Photoshop? It's possible that you set your type
in Photoshop and the recipient of your artwork is concerned that it will
print poorly. If that's the case, they have reason for concern. Raster type
will be blurry.

Corel 10 wont convert paragraph text to curves so I need to retype it all
anyway.

If you've already created the vector text in CorelDRAW you have some
options. You could create a PDF with the fonts embedded. You could also send
native files along with the fonts you used and any linked images. It's not a
great idea to embed images because they easily become corrupt and sometimes
need to be resaved to pass through a RIP.

There are also ways to automatically create outlines of type when distilling
to PDF with Acrobat Distiller.

Would it be better to retype in PS7...

Absolutely NOT!! Don't do that. Raster text will be blurry.

It's possible to use faux vector text with Photoshop, but the user must know
what they're doing, as must the recipient. Personally, I can tell the
difference...

...or in Corel in Artistic text?

I don't know about this "Artistice text". Perhaps someone can elaborate? I'd
be leery.

I was going to do the art in PS then going to the CD template in Corel then as
CDR and PDFs for the printer.

This sounds reasonable. How do you plan to make the PDFs for the printer?

Hope to help,

Tim
