Perhaps your font "BellCentennialBT-BoldListing" is already loaded in your
RIP? Just a guess...
But you're getting this error when attempting to place the PDF into
InDesign, right? Not at the RIP stage? I didn't have this problem with
either InDesign CS or InDesign CS2. Maybe we need more details, or maybe
I've been misinterpreting your post the whole time. Please enlighten.
The Bell Centennial font is absolutely not an issue here. It's loaded
all the way through the workflow.
If we pull the ad at lower right off the page, the problem disappears.
The eps imports into InD CS fine, but fails to import on multiple Macs
into CS2. OSX 10.3.9 AND 10.4.x...
Import via Applescript or by drag & drop, and I get the error message
described earlier. Today, I tried using the Place command, and got:
"InvalidFont error occured creating the screen display for the imported
EPS. The EPS will draw as a gray box. The actual EPS may not print and
will not export as PDF. Do you still want to place this file?"
The page printed fine to our laser printer.
Our workflow uses Applescript to place the eps files into an InD
template and then prints PS to Distiller to move PDFs through our
printer's Prinergy system.
The entire workflow is somewhat complex & convoluted as we have to move
pages from a 14 year old classified system into a modern prepress
operation. I can go into painful detail if it would be worthwhile.
If I place your EPS into InDesign CS2 and print PostScript it fails in
Prinergy (same problem). If I export PDF from Indy it is fine.
CS2 on Mac? If so, that's very, very interesting.
Again, thanks for your assistance on this.
