Although I use Corel daily in my printing business (self adhesive labels)I think all the talk about Corel being seen as not very good makes methink I need to use Indesign - is this the case? Is Corel Draw really a
page layout tool anyway? I managed to design a very nice newsletter in
it once I had set up my grid and cloumns etc and it was fine. Are there
any really vital reasons why I should not use Corel for this purpose?
you really do need a pagination program for magazine work and InDesign seems
to be the flavour of the day. Sure, use Corel for all your vector stuff and
other graphical elements if your familiar with it but use InDesign for page
assembly, typesetting and incorporating all your Corel elements.
There is lots of overlapping with graphic design programs. Corel is
fantastic at vector drawing but, very mediocre with text and page layout. I
haven't used InDesign but would imagine it is the other way round from
Corel, with its primary objective being page layout. I reckon you need both
programs.
Steve W(in Aus) who doesn't need a page layout program.
