Only problem is the JJY 60 kHz transmitter is at (33°28'N 130°11'E), nowhere
near Tokyo, so the relative distances are reversed:
7397 km from JJY (60 kHz) to Perth
7774 km from JJY (60 kHz) to Sydney *and* a much more RF noisy environment.
There's always WWVH (Hawaii) or BPM (China) as alternates, only slightly further
away.
The VNG Users Consortium, having given up on reviving the HF transmitter, now
offers a GPS receiver which outputs a variety of time signals, including an
emulated VNG audio tone(!)
.
