I've got an Adaptec 2940 u2w which is 80mbit. Will windows xp pro or windows

To be 100% certain, you have to check the Microsoft XP Pro or Vista "Hardware
Compatibility List" (aka "WHCL"), but having installed XP Pro on a number of
systems using a small variety of Adaptec host adapters (fwiw, from a vanilla
2940UW to a 29320) it should be supported with a miniport driver on the

also how good is this card and drive vs sata 1 or sata 2 single drive? I
would like to find out if the scsi would be faster and i have heard yes it
is.
scsi 36gb 10k rpm 80mb seagate on the scsi card at 80mbit.
sata 10k rpm raptor 36gb as a single drive or 2 as raid 0.
which would be faster? I've heard the scsi.
I think the scsi would be also since i had a mac IIsi a long time ago that
was 5mb scsi and ata 33 and the scsi 5mb was way faster. so my guess would
be this scsi 80mbit would be faster then my ratpors in raid 0 or as a single
drive.
I'd be more than a bit surprised if a typical u320 scsi drive would outpace a
sata-based raid set.
Obviously that depends on the usage pattern and on what RAIDnumber.
I suspect a single scsi drive would barely keep up with a single sata drive,
That is about as informative as saying that a single ide drive would barely keep
up with a single sata drive,
especially if the sata drive and host platform support NCQ.I have an AHA 2940U2W and winXP picked it up at boot and installed its
Besides, parallel scsi is as dead a technology as there is. Why would you

own driver with no intervention from me. Found the tape drive as well. I have
used SCSI system drive on previous build (ATA100 IDE motherboard) and it
was a lot faster.
SCSI and Raptor have faster seek time than IDE and SATA.
Which you'll notice if the usage pattern is random access.

Nonsense. It IS not.
a SCSI drive with SATA interface).
It's an SATA enterprise type drive with SCSI type like specifications
such as capacity rpm and access times.
No self respecting 10k SCSI drive has 3.5" platters like the 36GB
Raptor has.
And there is nothing SCSI like in a Head Disk Assembly (HDA).
Modern motherboards have faster IDE and SATA interfaces,
Wrong again.
but 10k drive can output more data/sec than similar 7.2k.
The operative word being: "similar".
If money no object, can buy 15k SCSI drive!
