hi all, can someone please tell me where I'm going wrong before I go nuts
?
I have just acquired (from ebay) an Adaptec 2100s raid hba, 3*18 GB drives
and u160 cable
I managed to set up a raid 5 array in the HBA BIOS, started win2k set-up,
did the usual F6 thing and inserted driver disk
drive formatted fine, although set-up saw it as one 34GB (approx.) drive,
is
that right ?
windows installed ok, but when I looked in disk management, it said I had
1
BASIC 34GB drive, no mention of a RAID5 set-up
so can someone please tell me where I went wrong
You didn't go wrong at all, your results are normal. The RAID-5 set is
presented to the computer as a single disk by your RAID controller. Windows
and Disk Management can't tell the difference from an ordinary disk drive.
Only Adaptec's own tools can see 'through' the RAID controller and find out
what's behind it.
