Hi Toby,

I had a similar problem with a 64 bit 3Ware card and a Tyan S2885 (Thunder
K8W) motherboard. I see that the Adaptec 2120S is a 64 bit card. Try
putting it in a 32 bit slot to see if your problems go away. This is what
I did with the 3Ware card and I don't see any performance loss.

I see you are using a Riser card. Can that be put in one of the other
slots?
