documate 262 has backlevel software -- when is next release?

I'm considering a xerox documate 262 purchase based on strong reviews
including one from pc mag. However, there are two pieces of software
that are backlevel in the current scanner. I want to purchase only
after the new software is bundled with the scanner hardware, because
upgrading from the old software will cost about half the price of the
scanner. But I can't find anyone who can tell me when the next release
of the documate 262 will be. Does anyone know?
The software in question is from scansoft. Currently, the 262 bundles
Paperport version 9, although paperport version 10 has been available
for a long time. I am hearing from a VAR that it might be possible to
get a free upgrade from version 9 to 10 if you buy the 262 today.
This is not what I'm hearing about the other piece of software, which
is scansoft omnipage 15. Scansoft claims a 25% increase in accuracy in
moving from v14 to v15, so it seems worth waiting for. Although
omnipage v 15 is on the market, the 262 does not include it.
To upgrade this scanner, which costs in the $900 range, from v's 9 and
14 to v's 10 and 15 will cost $199 each in upgrade charges, so it's
very easy to spend almost half the cost of the scanner in upgrades.
Does anyone know anyone inside of xerox who can comment on when the
next release of the 262 hardware with upgraded scansoft software will
be? OR, whether customers who purchase today will be given a free
upgrade path to the currently available scansoft software packages?
In addition, does anyone know if the next release of the 262 will
include any hardware upgrades to the scanner itself?
