Re: Vuescan: problems with "clean" of large files

Michael Schebaum apparently said,on my timestamp of 23/09/2005 10:07 PM:

I have to scan very large slides (6x17 cm). The file size is approx.
500 MB at 2400 dpi and 800 MB at 3200 dpi.
At the 3200 dpi the "clean" function of Vuescan doesn't work: the
program stops at this point after scanning. Same problem with higher
resolution (4000 dpi).
Seems Vuescan has problems with files > 500 MB? Or am I doing
something wrong?

How are your system resources? How much RAM and scratch disc space do you have?

I have an Athlon 2300 MHz, 1 GB RAM and 95 GB free disk space.
With the original Epson scan software such a large file is no problem (but this sw needs 1 hour for an image, vuescan needs 15 minutes).

Did you increase the memory for Vuescan in prefs? 800Mb scan with 1Gb RAM might be a bit of a stretch, particularly if you are using Windows...
