The problem is you plugged in the scanner *before* installing the
manufacturers software.

In Windows XP, ALWAYS install the software before connecting any device.
XP installed its own built in WIA, which is crap. XP never gave you a change
to install the correct software.

Disconnect the scanner, Remove all of the software and start over. Reboot
computer after removing the bad software.

Now Download and install the software, Link below. Reboot.
Then plug in the scanner.

If you have a choice, Use the TWAIN driver, WIA is limited in the functions
you can do with the scanner.

Has STI-TWAIN Software Drivers and ASPI-TWAIN Software Drivers for The
fi-4120C scanner. The ASPI-TWAIN is for the SCSI connection. Use the USB.
