We clearly have a different definition of what discontinued means.
Yes, there are new models. However, the 4800 vs the 4880 doesn't look
like an improvement. Ultrachrome k3 inks, 8 tanks, 110ml each. They
are still being sold in stores (JVH and camera shops).
Turboprint supports last years model of Epson Professional wide
printers. They don't support this years model. Given that
professional printers tend to be in service longer than desktop
printers, given the 2 year warranty, I think it's spiffy. You want a
professional printer under linux, get the 4800, problem solved.
There is limited support for printers under linux from OEMs. Third
There is no support form USA printer mfg.
Incorrect. As I already showed you CanonUSA supports the imageRUNNER
under linux. Granted this is an enterprise solution, but it's blanket
statements like this that I only need one example to prove you
wrong.
Linux support sucks. However you can't say it doesn't exist.
BULLSHIT

See, Bullshit.
That's the nice thing about you making blanket negative claims. I
only need one example to prove you wrong, and prove you're just making
up shit.
Go call CanonUSA tech support. Or Epson. They will tell you they do not
support Linux.
CanonUSA gave me a link to the Japanese website. Epson same deal.
Read the box the printer comes in. No support for Linux. Are you a dunce
or something. Can't you read English --American English. I do not know
about the Kings English.
I read English just fine. Their Linux support is lame. Canon's linux
support is lame, but it's not non existant.
This is a case of Measkite moving the goalposts because he can't stand
to be wrong.
Canon has limited linux support. It's limited to their older models,
like the ip4000 and such. They offer limited support using stock
linux BJ drivers and a filter. If you want your ip4300, ip4500,
ip4600 to work under linux, and all the functions supported, get
turboprint, it's 30 euros.
