Bypass the IP3600 for the better IP4600. Duplex printing is a great
feature. Remember that a web page can consist of multiple printing pages
so with duplex you can print out the web page front and back. Even Odd
printing does not work with a web page since there is only 1 odd page.
Again, internet explorer might have an issue with this, firefox
doesn't. AFAIK, the canon driver supports manual duplex for printers
without the duplex feature. This PRESUMES that one actually uses the
duplex feature in the first place. Duplex mixes dye and pigment ink
resulting in lower contrast and quality, and increased cost per
page.
But this is a case of where Measekite is a little liar since he claims
do to all his text printing on his HP, and photos on his ip4000, where
photos typically are not two sided.
The ip3600 lacks the auto duplex of the ip4600, and also sports a
smaller head. AFAIK CD printing is also not an option on the ip3600.
Text printing isn't likely to be any improvement over the i560, which
is really what this post is about. It'll cost more to print on either
of these models as they shrunk cartridges.
I personally would go ip4600 over the ip3600 for CD printing and
speed, as well as head life. But I wouldn't be critical of anyone
going ip3600 since it is the lowest price model that takes the full
sized cartridges, which are slightly smaller than prior generations.
I went ip5200 over ip4200 for the very same reasons.
Buying new is better. Remember many times a defective product is just a
lemon causing trouble all of the time.
Buying new is better, but the risk is mitigated if you save 50 to 60
percent. For canon you only get a 3 month warranty on factory
referbs. Also keep in mind that when the price of the printer is
equal to the ink it comes with, ink you would buy anyway, the net cost
of the product is 0.
