Help me help you

Several times a month I get requests for one of my manuals from people who have spam blocker filters on their email accounts. In some cases, it is within their control, and sometimes not (such as the ISP blocking a broad group of IP addresses from one or more provider).

Unfortunately, my ISP is a broadband provider which has had a problem with spam content over the years, and although they have cleaned up their act in recent months, some ISPs still block the email from their IP addresses.

Just to be clear, I am not speaking of the mvps domain, although I receive my e-printerhelp email through them, it is sent from another domain to you.

Usually, I try to respond within 24-48 hours of receiving your request. If you have not heard back from me within 72 hours, it either means I am away on vacation, which is only a couple of times a year, or, more likely, I sent you a reply and it bounced.

If you have a spam filter on your email system, if you wish to have me send you a manual PLEASE set it up to accept email from me. Since the manuals are in ASCII code and are as large as 85kb, they will sometimes get tagged as spam if your system is not alerted to my email address, or if the spam filter is looking for certain formats, you may just find my reply in your spam box, so check there.

If your ISP is blocking emails from mine, it means I cannot communicate with you, and you need to either ask your ISP to change that, or try contacting me again using a different ISP, so I can send a reply to you.

Lastly, some people use a system that requires the sender to register with your spam filter system for the email to be allowed through. Since these systems can themselves be hiding malware, and because they add extra steps for me with my limited time, I do not reply to those.

If you wish me to send you a manual, I guess you are going to have to trust that I won't send you unsolicited mail, and I ask that you clear my email address before making the request. I think my reputation speaks for the fact that I do not abuse people's email addresses by sending spam, nor do I distribute anyone's email address to others.

Just 2 days ago, I received an automated reply asking me to register myself to allow my email to clear a spam filter. To this person, if you are reading this and wish to receive the manual you requested, please register my email address on your system so you can receive the manual, if you still wish it, and email me again.

I always use the following address as my sent address:

e-printerhelp(at)mvps(dot)org

(at) = @
(dot) = .

Thanks,

Art
