Ok, I figured out how to make the print smaller. I changed the font
format to "LinePrinter". The document is now 86 pages long. I have no
choice and will have to do this manually, one shee at a time. But now
I have run into another problem. I can't get the HP 2100TN printer to
work using tray #1(The top tray).

I clicked Start>Settings>Printers, and then right clicked on the "HP
LaserJet 2000" icon, and then clicked the "paper" tab. At the "Paper
Source" drop down menu I highlighted "Upper Tray".

In the WordPad document itself I clicked File>Print>Properties, and
also highlighted "upper tray" in the "Paper Source" drop down menu.

I put a *** of paper in the fold down printer door and clicked
print, but nothing at all happens.

Have I missed something?

I assume that Laserjet 2000 should read Laserjet 2100? Does the printer start
flashing the Attention light? If it does there is probably a paper size or
type
mismatch.
Check the printer preferences and make sure that the paper size in there is
also set correctly.
Also make sure that the paper "type" is correct in printer preferences and
Properties and in the application.
A quick way to check after you have done that is to look in Printer
Properties
and see what is listed under Paper Available....it should match the tray
settings.

Terms like "Paper Type" and "Paper Available" don't exist.(And I've
gone through all options several times).

Nevertheless, the green light does not flash like it normally would
when the printer is carrying out a job. It's remains constant. Nothing
at all happens.

1) When I open the WordPad document and click "File" and then "Page
Setup", it has a tab for "Paper Size" and "Paper Source". Paper Size
is set to "8-1/2 x 11". And Paper Source is set to "Default Tray(Upper
Tray)".

When I click "Print"(which does say "HP LaserJet 2000") instead of
"Page Setup" on the "File" menu, and then click "Properties", on the
"Paper" tab "Letter"(8-1/2 x 11) is selected. And on the "Paper
Source" drop-down menu "Upper Tray" is selected.

If I click "Options" instead of "Properties" the "Default Tray" drop
down menu has "Upper Tray" selected.

2) And as for Start>Settings>Printers the printer icon will say "HP
LaserJet 2000". When I right click it for the drop-down menu and click
"Properties", the "Paper" tab has "Letter(8-1/2 x 11)" highlighted,
and the "Paper Source" drop-down menu has "Upper Tray" highlighted.
And if instead of the "Paper" tab I hit the "Details" tab, in the
"Print Using The Following Driver" drop-down menu the only option
there is "HP LaserJet 2000".

If the printer Icon reads Laserjet 2000 then you have the wrong drivers
installed. The Laserjet 2000 and Laserjet 2100 are different printers. You
need to uninstall the printer and download the driver for your actual model and
your operating system. Install the new drivers.
Many times a driver for the wrong printer will provide some functionality but
not all, my bet is that this is the case here.

Now select your operating system. Use the PCL5e or PCL6 drivers.
When the printer is installed you should have the options available that you
need.
