I have a printing problem - could someone help?
I have a Windows XP Pro machine (with all latest drivers and critical
updates), i'm trying to a connect to a shared printer on colleagues
computer (connected by USB xp pro PC). This printer has been working
recently until today, nothing has changed on either pc. The colleague
who owns the printer can print to this printer ok (Canon ix5000)
locally, but whereas people used to be able to print to it ok from a
share - it doesn't now.
I removed the printer from my list of printers to try and add it
again; I found I can't add it again.
When I try to add a printer on my machine I get the following.
** In- Connect to the printer by name. The following message appears
when you do this.
"A policy in effect on your computer which prevents you from
connecting to this print queue. Please contact your system
administrator"
** In- Find a printer in the directory. The printer exists in the
directory list but when you double click on it to try and add it - the
following error appears.
"Windows cannot connect to the printer. Either the printer name was
typed incorrectly or the specified printer has lost its connection to
the server."
Any ideas?
