I have a hp 500c printer. I was given a deskjet 656c hp printer with no power box supply. Can I use the power supply box from the 500c for the 656c printer?
No, the 500C used an AC output module (20VAC), the Deskjet 656c needs 24V DC.
The module you need is available on http://partsurfer.hp.com but you can probably find it cheaper in a thrift store (perhaps with another printer attached.... The information from partsurfer is shown following (in $US).
0950-3490 $39.10 Power supply module (Yokogawa AT7001A) - 100-240VAC input, 50/60Hz, 400mA - 24VDC output, 500mA - Requires separate AC power cord
