Tried to reload driver from disk with no luck. Disk only loads 49%
then stops.
Tried disconnecting and reconnecting; tried reinstalling - neither
worked.
It's printed on a home network for four years without one problem then
all of a sudden this mishigas.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
directly, but if you search in the forums on www.fixyourownprinter.com you might find something that could help. I found out what was causing a problem I was having and the fix for it over there once. If you don't find anything like your problem, it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Lots of friendly, helpful-sounding people there.
who also do not know enough to help you but they thinks they do.
.
It does sound to me like it's still a driver problem. The disk only loading 49% is no doubt an important symptom. I don't know Windows XP at all, but I would assume that if the disk cuts out before the whole driver loads, the old driver remains in effect. Bad disk, perhaps? Assuming we're talking CD, is the disk clean and clear of scratches? Does the drive ever malfunction with other disks?
Lots of assumptions there, made by someone who doesn't know your OS. Take them with a grain of salt.
