Problems with HP 6840 Wireless Install

Hi,

We have an HP 6840 printer that is running wireless on our network at
home. Have had it for about a year and it has worked great from both
PCs.

I now have an HP laptop I'd like to also be able to use this printer
wirelessly and it's been a mess. I have gone a few months not being
able to print from my laptop because each attempt to setup the software

ends in frustration.

I put in the setup CD and all goes well until I get to the screen that
asks "how will this printer typically be connected after setup" and I
select "wirelessly". That is when I click "next" and it goes dead. The
software stops, the laptop locks up and I have to shut down the laptop
to get out of it.

I have tried downloading the same software from HP.com thinking they
had a never version, same problem at the same point. I have also
connected the printer via USB while doing setup thinking it is looking
for the printer somehow to continue.. no improvement.

Any ideas? One would think setup of an HP printer on an HP laptop
would be effortless.

Oh yes, the laptop uses the same wireless network that the PCs do
without any problems. Just can't use the printer because I can't get
the software to install.

Thanks!

.
