Several things.
Firstly go to
http://support.dell.com/us/en/kb/document.asp?dn=1080620#Sectlink
I think this is the same printer.
The other thing you could try is to lubricate the bar that the carriage
(printhead) travels on.
Lastly, paper jams can cause this problem, look for some small piece of
paper
stuck in the paper path.
