HP Device Status and Alerts

I found the following message in this group in "Google Groups" but I was
unable to respond without joining Google Groups- so instead, I'll repost it
here. Apparently nobody responded at that time. I just installed the
LaserJet 1320 and notice the same problem. Comments welcome.

---------------------------
I just recently got two HP LaserJet printers. The HP 1012 and the HP 1320.
They both installed the HP Device Status and Alerts program that runs in
the System Tray. I like the program and the warnings, etc. but I also
noticed that about every two minutes it puts a minor tax on the system.
Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but the program changes the cursor to
a semi-busy state during this time. It changes from busy to not busy and
back a couple of times and only lasts for a fraction of a second, but this
is extremely annoying to me. Is there anyway to make it stop doing this
without uninstalling the status software? The two programs that jump
slightly in CPU % are svchost.exe and StatusClient.exe.
Thanks,
Jeremy Olmstead
