Brother 3420c Print Head

Has anyone had any luck cleaning the print head for a Brother 3420c? I used the printer in mono mode for quite awhile and now the color heads are apparently terminally clogged. After changing the tanks and running the machine through countless cleaning cycles, I've tried soaking it in various cleaning solvents to no avail. This brings me to several questions:
1) Has anyone found a solvent that will clean a very clogged Brother print head?
2) Has anyone tried one of the ultrasonic cleaners that are intended to clean jewelry and such? I don't have one or I'd have tried it by now. If they actually work I'd go out and buy one.
3) Has anyone paid for a new print head in one of these Brother 3420c printers? I haven't found them available on the web, and when I called a local Brother repair shop they wanted about $100 which seemed steep compared to what a whole new printer would cost me.
4) Any other inspiration?
Thanks...
Bill .
