Dear TCPP member,
Greetings! I am truly honored to be the TCPP chair. I look forward
to your continued support.
To get started, pl. drop me a line if you are interested in
participating in any of the TCPP activities (related to newsletter, web
resource, education, students, international outreach, standards,
etc.), or if you just want to share an idea to better serve the TCPP
community.
I am restarting the practice of batched announcements. Below I am
attaching a list of CFPs which have been submitted recently. To begin
with, we will try to batch them and disseminate at the beginning
of each month - to ensure that your announcement is considered, pl.
submit by end of the month.
Regards,
Sushil

hybrid power systems, ad hoc and cooperative multihop wireless
networks, etc. We expect this conference to serve as a forum for
presenting current work in these and related areas from the points of
view of electrical & electronics engineering, communication, and
computing. The conference will be unique in that its sessions and
tracks will be planned to promote inter-disciplinary interaction. In
addition to technical sessions consisting of contributed papers, the
conference will include invited and plenary talks, special sessions on
inter-disciplinary areas, poster sessions, tutorials, and panel

ACM SenSys 2007 Doctoral Colloquium
Tuesday 6 Nov 2007
Call for Submissions
http://www.comp.lancs.ac.uk/~hazas/sensys07dc/
GOALS
The purpose of the doctoral colloquium (DC) is to provide a friendly,
supportive, and constructive atmosphere where PhD students can present
their research-in-progress for an open discussion, guided by a panel
of experienced researchers and practitioners. Applicants should be
far enough into their PhD to have a concrete proposal, and have
initially outlined the salient issues and proposed research
methodology. Applicants should not be planning to submit their PhD
thesis or dissertation for at least six months after the DC, so that
any advice or input may still be incorporated into the doctoral work.
FORMAT
The DC will be a one-day, seminar-style event, consisting of short
presentations followed by roundtable discussion. Time will be
allotted to each student not only for the presentation, but also for
careful, in-depth consideration and discussion amongst the panelists
and DC participants. In order to provide such individual attention,
the number of accepted DC participants will be limited to fifteen.
SUBMISSION
Topic scope is the same as those listed in the SenSys call for papers.
DC submissions should consist of the following
1. research summary (2-3 pages) describing the work in progress,
and including a 100 word abstract. Things to consider for inclusion
in the research summary might be: the expected contribution to the
field of sensor networking; the original idea or thesis statement; the
problem domain and the specific problem addressed; a brief overview of
related work; the methodological approach; research carried out and
results so far.
2. student biographical sketch, including the names and
affiliations of the research advisor(s), and expected date of
dissertation submission
3. brief recommendation letter from the student's primary PhD
advisor, which summarises the student's progress thus far. The
recommendation letter will be treated as confidential, and will only
be seen by the DC chairs.
The research summary and biographical sketch should be in the ACM
double-column conference publication format. The recommendation
letter may be submitted directly by the student's advisor.
Submissions should be emailed to
sensys07dc@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Research summaries will be reviewed by the chairs and advisory
committee. If accepted, a student may be expected to make
clarifications and improvements to their research summary by the
camera-ready deadline. Note that the research summaries will not be
formally published, but hardcopies will be made available to
colloquium delegates.
TRAVEL SUPPORT
Travel support for PhD students studying in Australia may be available
from the ARC Research Network on Intelligent Sensors, Sensor Networks
and Information Processing (ISSNIP). Funding for students from the UK
is currently being pursued. Students travelling from the United States
may apply for support through the normal SenSys 2007 student awards
procedure. In all these cases, negotiations for travel funding are
still ongoing; please watch the SenSys DC website and the main SenSys
2007 website for updates.
IMPORTANT DATES
Submission deadline: 28 August 2007
Acceptance notification: 5 September 2007
Camera-ready deadline: 28 September 2007
Doctoral colloquium: 6 November 2007

CALL FOR PAPERS
Thanks to wireless sensor networks, pervasive
computing environments are becoming a reality.
Wireless sensor networks are aggregates of sensor
nodes into sophisticated sensing, computational and
communication infrastructures. These new networks are
having a significant impact (and promises to have even
more) on a wide array of applications ranging from
military, to scientific, to industrial, to
health-care, to domestic, establishing ubiquitous
computing that will pervade society and redefine the
way in which we live and work.
The goal of this workshop is to provide a forum to
exchange ideas, discuss solutions, and share
experiences among researchers, professionals, and
application developers both from industry and
academia. Original papers addressing both theoretical
and practical aspects of sensor networks are
solicited. Papers describing prototype and
experimental implementations and deployment of sensor
networks and systems are particularly welcome.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Sensor-based systems and applications
- Operating systems
- Middleware and software tools
- Networking architectures and protocols
- Data gathering, aggregation and dissemination
- Topology control
- Power management and energy-efficient design
- Time synchronization
- Location management
- Sensor networks with mobile elements
- Cross-layer architectures
- Intelligent sensor nodes
- Security and dependability issues
- Modelling and performance evaluation
- Measurements
PAPER SUBMISSION
Papers should contain original material and not be
previously published, or currently submitted for
