i think my problem is same or very similar.
i have amd processor, ps2 keyboard and mouse.
i can also see something like moritz reported:

I think this is a different problem, Moritz doesn't even
get as far as the prompt.

Do you have a usb keyboard? I'am not sure the install CD supports USB
keyboards unless the bios is capable of making them appear like PS2 ones
(which many can).
