But, grin, if you really want to work with this, it *IS* possible to package things on to the 3.5" 2.8MB floppies for your own use not "out of the box" as supplied by IBM and do things 'that' way! I've done it long ago. For example the entire emergency boot from floppy rescue operation for OS/2 could (can?) be put on just one floppy 3.5" 2.8MB floppy as needed if you have certain floppy utility tools and .. the floppy drive in the system can handle the 2.8MB diskettes. It is not necessarily an easy deal to get this done. Plus making sure that every floppy in whatever number of OS/2 systems you may have will still work this way is a mess too.
And .. watch out! If there is a floppy diskette read/write error in these 2.8MB units, you can get trapped in a strange system lock deal with the OS/2 device driver game under certain circumstances when you yank the diskette from that drive. You'll not be able to even see that drive until you reboot! So I don't recommend this game, but just want to mention it. It might be a curious security enablement technique in same mission critical systems, grin.
