You have later drivers than I. They should work as mine does. The IDE drivers should have nothing to do with USB.
Config.sys lines now look:
RUN=D:\OS2\SYSTEM\LVMALERT.EXE
RUN=D:\OS2\EXTENDFS.EXE *
BASEDEV=IBM1S506.ADD /A:2 /U:0 /ATAPI /FORCE
BASEDEV=IBMATAPI.FLT /A:2 /U:0 /TYPES:CLZ /V (This line is some way down with BackAgain 2000 stuff for readability. It doesn't seem to matter but I'll shift it up if that's important)

I tried my USB 2.0 - IDE adapter gadget (the loose one, not the one in the HD housing) on a DVD drive and drive U: (the removable CD drive) works! This seems to prove that the adapter has a level of compatibility with OS/2.
Try this: Connect the drive (flash memory stick) before booting and then see if it is found when the desktop is up. I used LVM to create one partition on my drive. It was an extended (logical), compatible, & not-bootable partition. I then formatted it as usual.
Umm would you be a bit clearer here? My flash memory stick mounts correctly on boot up but I wouldn't want to _format_ it since it is already formatted and has data on it which OS/2 reads and write just fine. So why would I want to format it?
Do you mean boot up with a hard disk connected and try to format it? I tried that but even then no connection to any disk happens (let alone mount a filesystem) so I can't do nothing with it. The HDs are 540 MB , 1.2, 3.2 or 8.4 GB units. (I have a strong urge to be able to do this because these legacy disks would be useful to take selective backups instead of just gathering dust or going to land-fill).
Well, something went wrong here. I just had the black screen that a fubarred SNAPse caused. Now after fixing that I don't have any flash USB disks operable, neither the flash card reader kind, nor the USB slot kind, nor is my USB mouse working, nor is the USB camera showing pictures. Grrrrr.... Time to reinstall some drivers, I guess.
Uhh oh, we all have problems from time to time, sorry to read about it :-|
