NETSERVR.EXE crashes with Win client!

Some may remember that I've had this ongoing problem. I'm off work for a
couple of weeks, so I'm trying to do something useful and fix this -
it's becoming an urgent problem now.

The setup is an ACP2/SMP machine (a dual CPU IBM PC Server 325) with
built in IBM ethernet interface. It's at FP4, with the LAN component at
IP_8608. Up until now it's been running "NETBIOS", not "NETBIOS over
TCP/IP".

Win 95 and Win 98 systems have been able to use resources on this server
with no trouble at all. Win 2000 and Win XP systems can't. Naturally, I
installed the NETBEUI protocol on the Win machines. All of these Win
systems are completely up to date, fix-wise.

The problem is this. I log on to the Win machine (configured as a
workgroup member, same name as the domain). I can see the server in the
network neighbourhood or whatever; I can even see the server 'comment'
from IBMLAN.INI. When I attempt to 'open' the server icon to see the
resources, it all hangs. In fact, NETSERVR.EXE has crashed *hard* on the
server, and it requires a reboot to clear it.

Previous discussions indicated that others were running "NETBIOS over
TCP/IP", so I converted the server to use both. Having converted the
rest of the network too, I removed plain "NETBIOS" (NETBEUI in Windows
terms) from the Windows machine under test, and from the server. It made
no difference.

I've also tried running in single CPU mode; no good either. The
NETAPI.DLL is *newer* than the one in IC29722 (it's at build level
53.47). I also rolled back to the IC29722 one (build level 53.44.4). No
difference.

The crash is always the same.....here's the POPUPLOG.OS2 entry:

I am at a real loss here. The IBMLAN.INI settings are at or near
defaults. LANTRAN.LOG looks OK.

What bugs me is that everyone else seems to be doing fine with this.
What's so special about what I have here?

Any ideas, anyone? Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
