And I have since discovered that it did a lot more deletions than
expected. In effect it entirely 'lost' TCPIP.. even though only
netbios was removed.. In the end, I just unzipped a backup over the
mess... I'm back to where I was when this thread started....

More playtime I suspect.
It *may * have something to do with making the laptop a backup domain
controller.... Among other things that seems to have automagically
demoted the desktop domain controller... and now the laptop cannot
find nor log in to the domain....

I may have to go back to the TCPIP 4.0 backup and try it all again...
