The WinTV HVR-1300 has a hardware encoder and I've seen the PVR-500 but
it says it's for a Media Center PC so I'm not sure it would work with
eCS. It doesn't have a digital tuner but does have two analogue ones.

The EmperoarTV program supports the PVR-500.

http://www.s-t.de/en/produkte/mpegtv.htm.

I have seen the PVR-500 mentioned in the change but log all that's
available in the UK is the PVR-500 MCE
http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/pages/products/data_pvr500mcekit.html and I
don't know if that's the same as just the PVR-500. I did see a thread a
while ago about the PVR-500 and it needs two more copies of EmperoarTV
to run it although that would also be true of any other cards so the
added cost is still the same. I already have a PVR-350 and it's
tempting to put a PVR-500 in the system with that.

Following the links to Mensys it does say that there is experimental
support for the PVR-500 MCE so it seems we are talking about the same
card.

When running under Media Center you can use the included IR transmitter
to control a set top box and get digital that way but that isn't going
to work with EmperoarTV.

I need to replace my systems before playing around with TV cards and
that's not going to happen for a couple of months at the very least. I
wouldn't like to try watching TV on a Matrox G200 :-)
