The US authorities are very pissed at the foot dragging that has occured. That is why the purchase of analog recievers will be stopped soon. Although the original law allowed delays, Congress is impatient at wishing to assign the analog bandwidth to other uses. Do not be surprised that the US Congress passes a law this fall pulling the plug all analog broadcasts by 2009.In <c1.2b5.2yHRlL$2HC@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, "William L. Sir:
I've been searching the web and the only HDTV video capture/TV card that
I found that is for sale in the US is ATI Wonder HDTV card model
100-714127 with remote control and other nice features, but only for
Windows ($139 and up, & SH). I've not found an OS/2 driver. I've looked at Linux sites to see if there might be a Linux driver. There is. but ATI wrote it and it is not open software. However, I saw that there were other TV cards for Digital TV. Alas, as far as I been able to track down, they were European Digital cards and not for sale in the US. Any suggestion as to what I should do? I got a few years before Digital TV become mandatory.
In order to try HDTV at minimal cost I bought a set top box with VGA connector and plugged in a computer monitor.
I prefer analog TV because it rides through signal brown outs where digital TV freezes when the signal fades.
The authorities here have conceded they will have to delay the analog shutdown because the digital take up is less than anticipated. You might have more time than you have been told.
