Hi Lars

works as good as anything else:
rem DEVICE=D:\OS2\BOOT\APM.SYS
rem DEVICE=D:\OS2\MDOS\VAPM.SYS
...
rem PSD=ACPI.PSD /OS="Microsoft Windows" /VBE
rem PSD=ACPI.PSD /PIC /!NOD /VBE
rem PSD=ACPI.PSD /LS:5
rem PSD=ACPI.PSD
rem PSD=ACPI.PSD /OS="Microsoft Windows"
rem PSD=ACPI.PSD /!NOD
PSD=ACPI.PSD
...
rem RUN=D:\OS2\APMDAEMN.EXE
RUN=D:\OS2\ACPIDAEMON.EXE D:\OS2\BOOT\ACPID.CFG

The above does not activate ACPI - does your mainboard need ACPI? Is
it a single core CPU?

If you do not need ACPI uninstall it - you can simply REM ACPI lines
in config.sys to test.

Does it not with PSD=ACPI.PSD ?

That loads the acpi driver without any parameters. What I am asking is whether you even need it?

Really, what I need is only the
power-down functionality. This is exactly what does not work with this
MOBOs APM implementation.

Looks like you do...

This MOBO has a single core CPU (Pentium 4 single core CPU) and only one
CPU on the MOBO.

Try this line:-

PSD=ACPI.PSD /ACPI

If it fails to boot change it to:

PSD=ACPI.PSD /ACPI /!NOD

Have a hunt through the acpi docs - probably in ecs\acpi\doc or \ecs\doc\acpi - and see if there is any specific mention of the SIS chipsets.

Recently I bought a USB PCI card with 1 USB 2.0 host controller and 2
USB 1.1 (UHCI) host controllers. The card has 4 USB ports accessible
from the outside and 1 USB port accessible from inside the box. All of
these USB ports work perfectly well and now even USB 2.0 is properly
supported under OS/2.
I disabled USB 2.0 on the motherboard leaving me with one working USB
2.0 host controller from the USB PCI card. Still, I cannot disable the
OCHI host controllers as the card reader attaches to them, it only
supports USB 1.1 and attaches to the motherboard.

There should not be any reason for the cardreader to not work with the
uhci controllers on the addin card.

Ok, the only thing I need to find is a cable that connects the
proprietary (well maybe it's not proprietary) plug attached to the
cardreader to the USB plug that goes in the PCI card.

I'm not quite sure I understand the problem here? What is different
about the plug? - Is this an internally attached USB cardreader?

Yes it's internally attached. I did not yet have a look at the plug that
plugs into the card reader but the plug that plugs into the MOBO is not
the normal USB plug.

Aha!

So you have an internal cardreader with the plug that fits the mainboard headers but the addin card has a socket for a "normal", ie external, usb device to plug into.

Well, been there and done that.

Get a spare USB lead and cut off the plug you need plus however long a length of lead is required and use that to replace the cardreader connecting lead. Does require a little bit of work but if you are lucky the wire colours are the same which helps; if not you will need to find out pin numbers on plug and cardreader connector plug and make sure that you (re)wire correctly.

A bit fiddly but easily done with a little patience.

Regards

Pete
