[OT Windows tricks] Re: which 64 bit Linux distro for best OS/2 eCS compatibility?

As I noted above, the NTFS partition is currently unbootable. This can be
fixed with some registry updates, I have a file that can be imported to
accomplish this, but I have yet to find a tool that can be used to
accomplish this. I have found the Offline NT Password and Regedit boot
image, but while it includes registry export it does not have registry
export yet. As the import file is about 7K in size, it is more than I
would consider attempting to enter manually. Anyone know of a
freeware/shareware tool for Linux that can accomplish this?

Perhaps you can find clues on my JVC741/WinXP web page:

Another hint:
After HD surgery behind Windows' back the entries in boot.ini might point to the wrong partition. (Serves Windows well I'd say, sure, but it can be a nuisance)

In boot.ini you'll see something like this:

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

You can try to add entries under[operating systems] like multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(x)
where x can be 1...10 or so, and try to boot from those entries in turn. Once booting succeeds you'll know what to change in boot.ini
