I have a sony dsc-t1 camera and a motorola a1200 phone which are both
not recognized as USB mass storage devices (it works in win xp).
Why is this? Isn't USBMSD some kind of standard? Is the driver not
conforming to the standard?

Sorry No answers for the above apart from stating that USB devices designed to work with Windows/Mac and supplied with specific software to do the job sometimes do not adhere to any standard except their own.
Now a few questions to try and help:-
Does the camera actually work in Win as an MSD without the Sony drivers installed?
Did I read somewhere that it uses specific software to download images from camera to pc?
Could it be a PTP type camera?
When you have the camera attached does the USB Resource Manager show any details for the device?
Might be worth checking if any of the software supporting PTP cameras lists that camera.

Pete
