Don,

Got it. Now installing TCP/IP V4. Thanks.

In Warp 4 order of installation of software is MPTS, then TCP/IP. MPTS was added earlier. Situation arises where MPTS *will not run* when invoked after adding TCP/IP. Had same problem on another OS/2 machine. Too messy.

Did clean Warp 4 install on laptop IBM 385ED. Networking software added correctly. However, despite fact that Card Manager sees both modem U.S. Robotics XJ/CC1560J, and LinkSys Combo PCMCIA EthernetCard EC2T, only the modem will operate properly. Ping to local host shows that TCP/IP function works. Can not ping any other machine on network. Same ethernet adapter runs ok under Windows NT4 on same laptop (using IBM Boot Manager to dual-boot).

Freshly installed CONFIG.SYS had IBM2SS01.SYS and IBMSS14.SYS drivers because i selected an IBM model in the PCMCIA selection panel. Windows NT detected a Cirrus Logic PCMCIA bus controller. So, i reset the laptop model to Panasonic which asks for the IBM2MAT1.SYS driver. The updated CONFIG.SYS now has this driver, and the system commented out the IBM2SS01.SYS and IBMSS14.SYS drivers.

The modem card stills works fine (on COM2), but the LinkSys card still does not work. I Googled around the net and found newer versions of the IBM PC Card Director (which is at version 3.00 after a fresh Warp 4 install). The new versions are v4.08 and v4.12 of pctpgos2.exe.

Now here is the problem. After cutting the floppies with each version (by running pctpgos2.exe), the installation (by running pcminst2.exe on the floppy) of the new drivers fail with message "A:\EZPLAY2.DL@ copy error". The same error occurs with v4.08 and 4.12. Does anyone know how to get around this problem? I made very sure that the floppies were good, and i cut them twice to guarantee quality diskette images.

Is perhaps the pccard5.zip package on Hobbes of any use?
