In March I posted this query:

An attempt to load one of my Java programs brings up instead a

box with the message: "Your JVM registry information is missing or

J2WIN.DLL is where it always was. What does it need to be fixed?

Thanks in advance for any advice...

Which was followed by the this advice:

Try running the installer again. If that does not fix it, let us know.

Now I've done that, by simply running the executable over the existing
contents of the Java142 directory (which is what the README says to
do). This did made a small change -- now an attempt to load a Java
program brings up the slightly different message: "Your JVM registry
information is missing or incorrect. Please reinstall". But that is
what I did.

Does it want me to edit the registry in some way? Or delete the
existing directory? Or do something else?

Is the Java programs ready available, like can I try it here to see if
it even works?

The same thing happens with ANY program on Java142. The one I reported
the problem on was GenealogyJ, but Jedit, Jalbum, etc. all act
identically. All have worked properly for as long as the Java142 has
been here, and longer.

The problem started when I moved the boot partition (which is where
Java resides too) from one partition to another.
