Could somebody please tell me, how W4 decides, which drivers to load from which Installation Disk?
I still have some space on Disk1, but can't make use of it, while my Disk2 is crammed out to the last byte.
Every additional driver I try to load from Config.sys on Disk1, W4 insists to try to load from the overcrowded Disk2.
Is there a way to also get additional stuff loaded from Disk1?
It depends on boot phase. The kernel files are loaded from disk 0. The base device drivers are loaded from disk 1 everything else from disk 2.
As far as I know, this is hardcoded into the kernel and invoked when the kernel is loaded as "OS2KRNLI".
Maybe you can shrink some of the files using LXLITE. You can throw away all the DOS stubs. And maybe some of the files can be compressed better.
