monitors that are very tricky to get set up just right; there is no "auto
adjust" like on later models. The vertical/horizontal height/width needed
tweaking to get the image to fit the display exactly. The final part was
fine tuning with the phase adjustment.
The distortion sounds like a phase misalignment. Such a misalignment
affects only some parts of the screen. By moving the window around you can
see the text distort and clear depending on its position.
