Re: Trouble Getting Ecomstation 1.2R to recognize a FAT32 external HD

Peter,
Well, I've tried the above items you suggested and ended getting myself
deeper into a mess.
Firstly, I installed the USBCFG6 (not 5a) utility. Once loaded I
started to tweek the mass storage device tab options. Mass storage
device(s) seem to be supported regardless, and all I was able to
achieve was create a bunch more "floppy" drives when I rebooted. Still
not recognizing the FAT32 system.
Plan B: install the DFSEE utility. Yes, it could see the second drive
and recognized it as FAT 32, etc. So, I tried to give it a drive letter
and configure it from there. So far, so good. When I rebooted, the
system hung up with a message that there was an exception in the LVMOS2
module. Unplugging the external HD allowed me to reboot. However, once
rebooted, every time I plugged the external HD into the USB, the system
would crash to the same error message screen. So, it seems that even
though DFSEE was able to assign a drive letter to the HD, LVM does not
seem to like this. Furthermore, I seem to be in a Catch-22 situation
now, because the only way I see to reconfigure this beast is through
DFSEE, but everytime I hook up my HD, the system crashes. Let's see
someone figure this dilemna out!
Plan C: back to where I started before being foolishly dedicated to
OS/2 and wanting everything that works on Windoze to work on it--use
the external HD only on my XP box and copy my OS/2 data across the
network.
If someone has a reasonable work-around, I'm willing to hear it, but
the number of complaints I've seen on the threads re. the FAT32 dilemna
suggests that this is something that Serenity Systems should address
for a future release of Ecom.
Sincerely,
.
